The Grace of God is Undeserved

“For I through the law died to the law that I might live to God. I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain.” [Galatians 2:19,21]

Grace is undeserved. Because of our own, personal sin we each deserve the judgment of our holy and righteous Creator. According to the gospel of Jesus Christ, the grace of God is a free gift that God has offered to every person who will willingly receive it. His righteous judgment will eventually fall on all who reject His grace.

His gift to us is not something that we deserve. It reveals the grace and astonishing love that our Creator has for us. He temporarily laid aside His eternal glory to become a man, Jesus Christ, and took all of our sin upon Himself on the cross so that we could be forgiven by faith in Him and receive eternal life in His Kingdom. We cannot do anything to deserve God’s grace. We very obviously deserve His judgment for our sin- each of us.

All we can do is turn from our sin and call out on our gracious Creator, our Father in Heaven, and ask for forgiveness of our sin through faith in Jesus Christ. He is faithful to forgive us our sin and to give us eternal life.

Don't Get Cheated!

“For I want you to know what a great conflict I have for you and those in Laodicea, and [for] as many as have not seen my face in the flesh, 2 that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, and [attaining] to all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the knowledge of the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Christ, 3 in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. 4 Now this I say lest anyone should deceive you with persuasive words. 5 For though I am absent in the flesh, yet I am with you in spirit, rejoicing to see your [good] order and the steadfastness of your faith in Christ. 6 As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, 7 rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving. 8 Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. 9 For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; 10 and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.”

The Inheritance of the Saints

"'I will deliver you... from the Gentiles, to whom I now send you, to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.’"
-Jesus speaking to Paul, Acts 26:17-18

Seeking Wisdom from the Lord

There are many voices clamoring for our attention, in the world and in the church. James said that God will give wisdom to those who ask. Seek wisdom and discernment from God and spend a lot of time in the epistles of the New Testament (Romans-Jude), and in the Psalms, and in Proverbs. If you are in Christ by faith and seeking the Lord, that is a quick way to gain wisdom and discernment.

To Him Who Overcomes

"Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?" [1 John 5:5]

7 "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God." ... 11 "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death." ... 17 "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give some of the hidden manna to eat. And I will give him a white stone, and on the stone a new name written which no one knows except him who receives [it]." ... 26 "And he who overcomes, and keeps My works until the end, to him I will give power over the nations--" [Revelation 2:7, 11, 17, 26]

5 "He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels. ... 12 "He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go out no more. I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God, the New Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God. And I will write on him My new name. ... 21 "To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne." [Revelation 3:5, 12, 21]

"He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son." [Revelation 21:7]
